My ‘Zero Makeup’ Skincare Regimen
I absolutely love makeup, like…. I love applying makeup, I love being able to contour my face into the shape that I want, I love getting my winged eyeliner just perfect (even if it takes a few q-tips for the look I want), however; I also love the way my skin feels when I have on ‘zero makeup’. I love when I do not have a single bump or irritating pimple to hide, and I can leave the house with just a moisturizer over my freshly-washed face.
When I buy a skin care product, the first thing that I read are the ingredients. Many people have break outs because of the chemicals in the products that they use, and they do not even know it! If you ever have a breakout, I recommend stopping the use of anything that you are using on your face (for at least a couple of days), if your face clears up….BINGO! You found the culprit. To avoid this, I usually try to stay away from any products with harsh chemicals, because of my sensitive skin.
There are several products that I have used for many years in order to remove my makeup. I also have several new skin care products that I recently purchased and reviewed. I will list these products below, along with products that I use as my nightly skin care regimen.
St. Ives Facewash
This is my “Holy Grail” facewash. If they ever stop selling this…I will not know what to do with myself. I have used this product for several years now, and I seldom have breakouts. This product has 100% natural exfoliants, it is also hypo-allergenic and PARABEN FREE! Hooray for no parabens! There are also several different types of these scrubs. From Oatmeal to Pink Lemon & Mandarin Orange Scrub, to a Green Tea Scrub (my favorite scent), they are ALL great! You will not be disappointed….oh, and did I mention this is 4 or 5 bucks at your local drug store.
Vaseline or Petroleum Jelly
I know what you are thinking…did she really just list Vaseline?….Yes…Yes I did! I will NEVER use anything else to remove my eye makeup. Just get some warm water and Vaseline… rub your fingertips together….apply all over your eyes and voilà! Like magic, all of your eye makeup will come off onto your warm washcloth. You can thank me later for this….
Dead Sea Mud Mask
Can I just say those words again….Dead. Sea. Mud. Mask. Wow, this stuff is AWESOME. I ordered this off Amazon and I absolutely love it. It is 100% Natural Mineral Infused derived from the Dead Sea in Israel. It leaves your face feeling refreshed. You just paint it on (I used a makeup brush) and you let it sit on your face for 15 minutes, then rinse it off with warm water. My face feels tighter and softer after using this and I am a believer of the Dead Sea! I found a really cool article from seacretspa.com that says: The black mud harvested from the banks of the Dead Sea is in fact alluvial silt washed down from the surrounding mountains and deposited on the shores of this inland salt sea. Layer upon layer of fine silt deposits have evolved over thousands of years to form a rich Dead Sea mud containing particularly high levels of magnesium, calcium, potassium, strontium, boron and iron. The resulting mineral-rich Dead Sea mud is a natural raw material that can be used by the body as a source of essential minerals for all its basic needs. Wow, so you can just imagine the nutrients that this mask puts back into your skin!
Snail Repair Intensive Ampoule
The fact of using anything with the word “snail” in it might be a little repulsive, but boy, do those little fellas make some good wrinkle and skin repair serum! This serum is literally made from 80% snail secretion and you can feel it tightening on your skin as soon as you apply it. This serum also has no scent. It also feels so good on your skin. According to MarieClaire.com, snail enzyme is a high-efficacy active ingredient comprised of proteins, glycolic acids and elastin commonly found in skin creams and sheet masks. This is derived from the same stuff snails produce to heal cuts on their soft bodies from rocks and other rough surfaces. In beauty products, snail mucin firms and restores skin by replenishing moisture and supporting cell regeneration (which helps fade acne scars, smooth uneven complexions and reduce hyperpigmentation).
TonyMoly I’m Real Face Mask Sheets
Moisturize. Moisturize. Moisturize. If you want your skin to feel as smooth as silk, you HAVE to try these face mask sheets. I tried my first one from ULTA and I fell in love so obviously, I had to buy in stock. These babies retail for $3 a piece at Ulta, but of course Amazon never fails me and I bought a pack of eleven of these for $10.00. Korean skin care is all the rage this year and TonyMoly products are absolutely amazing. These face sheets are all made with different ingredients to access different needs. You just apply the sheet and leave on for 20 minutes and your face will feel like a baby’s bottom after you remove it. Did I mention they smell phenom too? I will be trying their lip masks in the near future, along with a few other products!
. A skin care routine is so important because our skin is the largest organ of the body which means it is the biggest barrier against any type of infection that we have. As I get older, I realize how crucial it is to find good skin care products. Hopefully, one of these products will be in your shopping cart in the near future!
